How to determine what version you have without guessing
MIDWAY HAD 3 VERSIONS OF SHOWTIME
1.0. 1.5 AND 3.0
If you look at what’s called the sound I/O PCB (where the JAMMA connecter plugs in far right hand pcb), you will notice a 24 pin IC in a socket with a white label on it known as the security IC with a white bar code label.
- If the label reads Showtime, then you have a version 1.0
- If your label reads Blitz 2000, then you have a version 1.5
- If your label reads Showtime Gold, then you have a version 3.0
- IN ORDER TO CHANGE VERSIONS YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE A MATCHING HARD DRIVE, SECURITY IC AND A BOOT EPROM
This is a sure way to determine exactly which version you have and also what version drive you will need.
